BLACK INFERIORITY
I cannot be a scientist
I cannot be someone so recognizable in life
I am destined for failure
My life is doomed
I am leading towards nothing
My mind told me all this
BUT WHY?
Because l am black, because I am African
This thought and mentality of self-hatred
This thought of self mocking
I t seemed to be genetically inherent
Because for generation it has haunted us
It has haunted those of my complexion
Little had l known that this thought
Little had l known that this mentality
The major reason behind our failure
Had to be abolished, it had to be deleted
We needed optimism and abandon pessimism
In place of inferiority we needed superiority
I could be anyone in life; achieve great things
The power to do this lies in my hands
The power to change history lays my passion
For decades I had been told what l couldn’t do
For decades l never really knew what l was capable of doing
Fellow brethren, fellow blacks
Let us stand for ourselves, be positive
And remove this element of self-hatred
Eradicate inferiority of race or colour
We can be what we want to be in life
It takes focus, dedication and determination
Yes l can be the next richest person on earth
I can go beyond my horizons,
For the sky is the limit
